Eliza Wierwright, the artist/creator behind Patron, announced last month that she was raising funds to sponsor Asian elephants in an elephant sanctuary park in Thailand.  Eliza worked with “Save the Elephant Foundation” (SEF) and set up everything with them to basically be their ambassador in the virtual world of Second Life with the goal of sponsoring 35 Asian elephants within the park.  Eliza created a very beautiful baby elephant shaped holiday topiary to sell with all proceeds going to the cause.  Eliza is constantly keeping her group and subscribers up to date on the progress including proof that the moneys are being sent to SEF.  

Earlier in December, the Linden Endowment of the Arts sims provided space on LEA4 to Eliza to produce an immersive experience to further benefit the Save the Elephant Foundation.  Eliza worked with the sanctuary founder, Lek Chailert, to obtain photos and further information about the sanctuary and the plight of rehabilitating those beautiful beast after captivity.  This immersive experience provides more information and allows the visitors to understand the need for this sanctuary even better.

As you walk through the exhibit, take the time to view the photos, the stories, and sit in the stools for a visual experience.  If possible, definitely take the time to play the video trailer for “How I Became an Elephant”, the video that sparked Eliza’s idea and desire to help.  It is indeed inspiring and probably will spur more interest in what these animals go through and why we need to do more.

As with most all that Eliza touches and builds, the exhibit is well done and a peaceful place while offering education and awareness.   While the opening was on December 21st, the exhibit will be open for a bit longer, so stop in soon.
