As winter arrives in the Northern Hemisphere in our real world, so it does in Second Life. Winter sims are popping up all over and the joy of the holidays are stirring up events and parties and fund raisers. In the midst of it all, a beautiful sim has opened. “Yuki No Yume.. Dream of Snow” is Jac Mornington’s latest development. Jac has always admired the Japanese winter scenes that he has found in images online, around creations in Second Life and has toyed with opening such a sim to the public for a few years. When his partner, Rie Silverfall, told him she would love to have a Japanese winter sim, Jac knew he could make it happen. He set out to find some very awesome landscaping pieces from Alex Bader, Kriss Lehmann, Nadine Reverie, Tobias Novi, Kendra Zaurak, and others. He then started setting things out. Playing with the design, looking up images online to help him set his vision of the Japanese landscape. He picked up some gorgeous builds from Van Auster and Ryusho Ort to bring the little homestead together. A waterfall falls into a stream which runs through the setting into a creek eddy turning in to a frozen lake where the beautiful Japanese red-crowned cranes play. The setting is serene, peaceful and beautifully put together. As you walk along the paths, you will see the movement of the water, the birds, and the other animals… and yes, you will feel that you have fallen in to truly natural existence of winter. Be sure to visit, the sim is open now and it is not to be missed.
