Down the lane, you will find the sweet little cottage where an afternoon spent alone could revive your senses. Imagine spending the time drinking tea with the book that you so wanted to delve in to open on your lap. Hearing the sounds of the birds chirping and breeze stirring, would you just rather close your eyes and dream?

Where would your imagination take you? Would you travel through time or across the world? Would you dive into your book and enjoy the characters as one? Perhaps you might dream that you were no longer alone but with a friend or maybe your love.

Sometimes we want to share what we so enjoy. But… do you want to share this place – the place where you can escape and have the time to focus on you and your thoughts? For me, it would be my solace, my own space and I don’t believe I’d want to share with just any friend. The friend I would choose to share this space with would be a special one; one that understood the need for such a sanctuary.

I know who I would invite… do you?

In this blog, I am featuring several items from The Little Branch including the Flowering Dogwood v2 which is available at the Sense event until June 7. This beautiful tree has a lovely twisted trunk, is a 2 season tree and is lightly animated. You will also see the Yellow Orchid Tree v2 which can be found at the faMESHed event until June 10. It is such a lovely garden tree with 3 seasons and a little animation. The Moonshade Flower shrub is along the path and beside the cottage. A very versatile shrub that offers color change to white, pink, blue, lavender, or yellow blossoms.  This is currently available at The Chapter 4 until May 31. All of these are copy/modify so you can change the sizing.

.. the flowering dogwood ..

Growing up in the southern US, we always knew that Spring had really arrived when the blossoms on our dogwood trees appeared. The beautiful white blossoms cover the trees only for about 3 weeks in Spring.  When I moved to the east coast, I was so happy to find the beautiful trees growing naturally there too. I would savor the sight of the white and pink versions each year always bringing a smile.

The Little Branch has recreated this beautiful Flowering Dogwood tree in Second Life and the tree is currently available at the April round of the Chapter Four event. This Flowering Dogwood is a 2-season tree with animation. The tree has a rounded shape with the flowers covering the entire tree. It is perfect for a spring landscape!

Just a little general information about the Flowering Dogwood tree (printed from Univerity of Kentucky Department of Horticulture)

  • the scientific name is Cornus florida
  • the family for the Dogwood is Cornaceae
  • it is native to Massachusetts to Florida, west to Texas, Mexico, and Ontario
  • the size is generally 30 to 40 feet with a greater spread.
  • the true flowers are greenish yellow and are not very visible. It is the four bracts surrounding the flower that really show off.
  • in the fall, there are glossy red ‘berries’ and the leaves turn a glorious reddish-purple color
  • birds love it

.. the fig tree ..

Shiny Shabby opened on March 20 and this beautiful Fig Tree from The Little Branch can be found at the event. The lovely Fig Tree is a multi-season tree with animation. It has a full trunk with a gentle bend and the spread of leaves is rounded. In the box, you will also find other goodies such as animated grass (v4) and animated summer snake grass. All items can be resized so you can fit what you need.

Just a little general information about the Common Fig tree (printed from TreeFolks)

  • the scientific name is Ficus carica
  • it is native to the Middle East
  • the common fig can grow to 25 feet and is often very wide, however, it be pruned into shapes as desired
  • the fruit (the fig) is a very desirable fruit for animals and for humans alike
  • the tree does not have to be pollinated in order to produce fruit – it can produce two crops per year and will produce fruit on the current season’s growth as well
  • If you do not prune, the trees will grow to be scrawling and perfect for tree-climbing
