043018 Little Branch Catalpa a

The Catalpa tree by The Little Branch is currently available at the current round of the Illuminate event through May 13th. This Flowering Dogwood is a 4-season tree with animation. The choices include 2 separate options for Autumn that could take you through a full year. The tree has a rounded shape with plenty of sweet blossoms. The trunk gracefully bends and the tree is resizable.

Just a little general information about the Catalpa tree (printed from Arbor Day Foundation)

  • the scientific name for the Northern Catalpa is Catalpa speciosa
  • the family for the Dogwood is Cornaceae
  • the size is generally 40 to 60 feet with a greater spread of 20 to 40 feet for plenty of shade
  • produces clusters of large, trumpet-shaped white flowers in May and June with some fragrance
  • if the flowers and leaves drop on a sidewalk or path, it can be slippery so be safe and do not plant near walkways
  • has bean-like seed pods that are 8–20″ long which turn from green to brown as they ripen. These are filled with many 1 inch seeds that are fringed at the ends.
