Cap Estel Goes Safari

Our friend, Maurice Messmer, has turned his sim into the plains of the Serengeti recently.  Maurice has created a very real interpretation of Africa and invites all to visit.  Upon landing on Cap Estel, you have the option taking a Giraffe tour…yes, you ride the giraffe all around the sim or hopping on a horse, or even a bicycle.  Of course, you can also walk around the path as well.

As you explore the plains, you will find areas of respite, where you can enjoy a picnic, just rest or visit with a friend.  Then, after you visit the animals and cross the swinging bridge over the waterfalls, look for the zip line at the top of a gorge type area.  Don’t be afraid…just hop on and descend into the gorge!  As you lower, you will notice that the flora becomes lush and more green and that you are in a cool oasis type area.  Say hello to the hippos and look for the coffee shop…here you can have a coffee and rest for a bit more while watching the steam rise off the water and the monkeys playing in the trees.

Maurice always takes such care in creating areas, ensuring that you have a realistic experience, and Cap Estel Goes Safari is no exception!

Be sure to visit Cap Estel soon… Maurice just might have another scenic journey up his sleeve!

Have fun!!

Mysterious Wave

Creativity in Second Life abounds throughout the grid.  Whether you enjoy photos, sculptures, interpretive art, sim design, etc…you can find it.  I came upon a place by happenstance the other day called Mysterious Wave.  The sim is dedicated to creativity… it is a minimalist design built to showcase sculptures and artistic interpretations.  The sim features the sculptures and interactive art pieces by Anley Piers, Cherry Manga & Elfe Imako, the creators of the sim.  Along with artistic displays, the sim owners also host musical concerts at times as well.

Currently the sim is also featuring a show by Lalie Sorbet.  This show, ‘Invisible World’, features Lalie’s macrophotographic captures from the real world and will be on display on “Mysterious Wave” until February 15th.

Take some time to visit Mysterious Wave soon.  You can easily spend an hour or more experiencing the amazing pieces on display, and then head up to the shops to see what is available there as well.  Join the group and you’ll know when there is a new event or a change in exhibit.  Support the arts in Second Life…the availability to enjoy is so much more wide-reaching in this virtual place.

’til next time…enjoy the beauty in the world!

Lemondrop’s Forest

Recently I visited a sim full of whimsy.  Lemondrop’s Forest is a happy, colorful sim that brings so many fun, silly elements in to play.  When you land in the garden, you have the option of a Tour Buggy ride or perhaps, hop in a Gondola and guide yourself.  You can also walk and run around  as well.

Lemondrop’s Forest, created by Lemondrop Serendipity and Photon Pink, is built inside a tree which is over 300 meters high and along the root base.  As you tour around, you will find the port city of Lemonville, where you might catch a cartoon or two in Le Cinema Lemonville.  You might wonder what was used as textures for many of the buildings in Lemonville…well, if you look closely, you’ll see that they are candy wrappers.  While I was on the tour, I found out that these are from Russia and had been collected by Lemondrop and Photon (after they ate the candy, of course!).  The nightclub in Lemonville, Le Citron Bleu, is currently hosting an exhibit of the entire collection of the candy wrappers.

Continue your exploration of the sim and find the Fairy Airport Enternational, better known as FAE.  If you prefer air  transportation, you can grab a fairynaut glider and tour the island from above.  There are many other nooks and crannies on this sim…tunnels and pathways leading from one place to another.  You can fish here with 7Seas, do a little shopping at the Photon Island Trading Company and just hang out and watch the whales, sharks and boats…   Lemondrop’s Forest is a happy place – colorful, silly, and fun.  It can bring out the kid in you… if you just let it!

Until next time…explore, explore and let your imaginations soar once more!
