.. the poplar tree ..

“For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider,
every green tree is far more glorious
than if it were made of gold and silver.”

I’ve been unable to blog for the past few weeks but I’m here now with this awesome tree from The Little Branch which can currently be found at the faMESHed event. The beautiful Poplar tree is a four season tree and has animation as well. In the box, you will also find other goodies such as fluffy and snake grass and mesh hills. There are 2 versions of the tree included – a large version and a small 2LI version. Both can be resized so you can have a variety within your scene.

Just a little general information about White Poplar trees (printed from Woodland Trust)

  • the scientific name is Populus alba and the family is Salicaceae
  • it is a deciduous broadleaf tree native to central and southern Europe, though it is naturalized in the UK
  • the white poplar can grow to 20m or around 65ft
  • once fertilised, female catkins develop into fluffy cotton-like seeds, which fall in late summer
  • the underside of the leaves is paler than the upper side. The stems of the leaves are also distinctly flattened
  • Leaves are dark green-grey and white-ish on the underside, thanks to a bright white coating of woolly hair. Most leaves have five lobes and have irregular teeth around the edge
  • white poplar was widely thought to be non-native in the UK, however, references to ‘abel’ trees in historic documents indicate it has been here much longer than previously thought, and so it could be native

Blog 021718 Little Branch HazelNut Tree Sense Event

The Little Branch created the HazelNut Tree for the new round of the Sense event which opened on February 15, 2018, and runs for 25 days.

This HazelNut Tree  is a four (4) season tree and it is animated too. The animation is very light and natural. The tree is 100% mesh and the permissions are copy/mod. You can change the size but as with all mesh, just watch the land impact. I’ve also created a video showing the seasonal changes (Spring>Summer>Autumn/Fall>Winter) and the light movement of the leaves:

Just a little general information about Hazel trees (printed from Woodland Trust) –

  • the scientific name is Corylus avellana and the family is Betulaceae
  • it is a deciduous tree native to the United Kingdom though there is also an American HazelNut
  • hazelnut trees can live for around 80 years with coppiced stands living for several hundres years
  • The tree branches are so bendy/limber in the spring. You can actually tie a knot in a limb and it will not break.
  • Hazels are wind pollinated and the pollen is not sticky so the grains repel against each other. This causes difficult for bees when trying to gather pollen.
  • Leaves are soft to touch because of the hairy undersides.
  • The delicious hazelnut only forms once the female flower is wind pollinated. First the fruit is oval and hangs in groups. At maturity, there is a woody shell surrounding the nuts which also is within a bract of leaves.

.. the giant beech ..

To the great tree-loving fraternity we belong. We love trees with universal and unfeigned love, and all things that do grow under them or around them — the whole leaf and root tribe. ~ Henry Ward Beecher

blog 020318 The Little Branch Giant Beech Sense Event

The Little Branch created the Giant Beech tree for the new Sense event which opened on January 15, 2018, and runs for 25 days. That means you have around 6 more days to pick up this big beautiful tree at the event.

This Giant Beech is a four (4) season tree and it is animated too. The animation is very light and natural. The tree is 100% mesh and the permissions are copy/mod. You can change the size but as with all mesh, just watch the land impact.

Just a little general information about beech trees (printed from Woodland Trust) –

  • the scientific name is Fagus sylvatica and the family is Fagaceae
  • it is a large deciduous tree
  • beech trees can live for hundreds of years with coppiced stands living for more than 1,000 years
  • In Celtic mythology, Fagus was the god of beech trees. It was thought to have medicinal properties – beech leaves were used to relieve swellings, and boiling the leaves could make a poultice. Forked beech twigs are also traditionally used for divining
