Naturae

Naturae opened on the MiC sim in late March and has been on Showcase for a few weeks.  This installation by Merlino Mayo is a multi-level interpretation of a thought regarding how Man has turned away from nature.  Merlino explains more on his blog, so be sure to read about this amazing artistic creation.  The landing point is on the beach where several ideas are presented… and the first Element of Fire.  As you teleport up to the higher installations, you will find the additional elements of Metal, Wood, Earth and Water…all displayed utilizing interpretive human figures.

Naturae may only be available for another week or so… be sure to check it out as soon as you can so you do not miss it!

Showcase’d in Second Life – A New Series

In Second Life, there is a “search” button that is truly the new resident’s best friend and the experienced resident will often depend on this option heavily too!  There are many reasons one might open up the search option in their favorite viewer … to search for people, places, things, events, jobs, items for sale, groups, etc.  One area that I review often within the Search function, is the “Showcase”.  This tool provides places that have been submitted to or found by Linden Lab employees for inclusion and are considered really cool places to visit.  There is an option to review the full list or by category.  There are many categories ranging from Beaches to RolePlay to Educational to Nature and Gardens, etc.

The Showcase Search is the in-world version of the Second Life Destination Guide which can be found on the resident account dashboard…

Since I really enjoy finding interesting places in Second Life and I’ve posted several Showcase locations, I decided that I’d start sharing them with you on a more regular basis.  Sooo…  watch out for my series of “Showcase’d in Second Life”, starting in the next few days!

Cap Estel Goes Safari

Our friend, Maurice Messmer, has turned his sim into the plains of the Serengeti recently.  Maurice has created a very real interpretation of Africa and invites all to visit.  Upon landing on Cap Estel, you have the option taking a Giraffe tour…yes, you ride the giraffe all around the sim or hopping on a horse, or even a bicycle.  Of course, you can also walk around the path as well.

As you explore the plains, you will find areas of respite, where you can enjoy a picnic, just rest or visit with a friend.  Then, after you visit the animals and cross the swinging bridge over the waterfalls, look for the zip line at the top of a gorge type area.  Don’t be afraid…just hop on and descend into the gorge!  As you lower, you will notice that the flora becomes lush and more green and that you are in a cool oasis type area.  Say hello to the hippos and look for the coffee shop…here you can have a coffee and rest for a bit more while watching the steam rise off the water and the monkeys playing in the trees.

Maurice always takes such care in creating areas, ensuring that you have a realistic experience, and Cap Estel Goes Safari is no exception!

Be sure to visit Cap Estel soon… Maurice just might have another scenic journey up his sleeve!

Have fun!!
