The New Sol Escondido!

As mentioned in my last post, we are making changes to our little estate.  Sol Escondido had first been set up as a cabana rental community offering a private, natural environment for each unit.  As there was not enough interest for the smaller size rentals, but some interest from visitors to live on a sim that was terraformed/landscaped similarly with such beauty, we decided to re-create the sim.  With two confirmed residents already each requesting 1/3 of the sim, Jac decided he would offer 3 total parcels so that each would have 1000-1200 prim each.  The first two residents are close friends and wanted their SL home to be together, but separate with the ability to just “walk on over” so these two parcels are on a single larger ‘island’.   This island has three waterfalls with the largest separating the two parcels with a water way emptying into the ocean.  Jac provided a bridge so that the friends would not have to wade through the water to visit!

Waterfalls are integral with our estate and Sol Escondido is no exception!  The larger island has three waterfalls all fed from an elevated spring-fed pool.  This placement of falls and pools is becoming quite the trademark for Jac, offering our residents a lovely place to while away the hours alone or with friends.  Our current residents in both areas love this feature so I hope that we can continue to offer similar spots for all!

The third parcel on Sol Escondido exists on its own private island, terraformed and landscaped beautifully… again with multiple waterfalls spilling into the ocean or coves emptying into the ocean.  This sweet island will provide an awesome home site with water access, great views, lots of privacy and wonderful neighbours.  I truly doubt it will be available for very long… If you are interested in finding out more, please contact me in world!

The entire estate is always changing, always beautiful, always relaxing… and welcoming 🙂   So… if you need a respite from the everyday SL world and you want to relax on the beach or surf along the waves, come by and see us soon…

Until next time… enjoy life!

~~It’s 2010!~~

Well, we moved into 2010 and for me it happened very quietly (both RL and SL).  This is not always a bad thing as it give us all time to reflect.  We reflect on what is important to us, remember the good and maybe the not-so-good times, and hopefully look forward to the new year with plans for fun, happiness, and all things good!

We are making changes again on our little estate.  Our beautiful sim, Sol Escondido, had been set up for cabaña rentals but we weren’t seeing that much traffic from interested avatars.  At the same time, we had a few that were very interested in living here but on larger parcels, and perhaps in their own homes.  Well because we had a few renters that we didn’t want to displace…Jac got to work on building a small island out on Playa Sol Mañanero to accomodate.  WOW!  The result is awesome!  While I had some input and was asked for my opinion, he truly created a beautiful spot for 3 cabañas.  I find the spots even more lovely than the beauty he had created on Sol Escondido – each offers such privacy and an awesome view of their own private waterfall.  The source of the waterfalls is a spring at the highpoint that also provides a ‘sweet’ place for relaxation.  Our renters seem happy and, well, isn’t what is all about?

Sol Escondido will be recreated into three island parcels.  In this case, I think that Jac has a good idea of what he plans to shape here based upon some conversations he has had with potential residents AND just his good sense of what will work!  He will terraform and fully landscape to offer views, privacy and beauty to each parcel.  I look forward to watching the transformation and being there to give support as needed throughout!

We still have the Teahupoo wave up and running on Sol Mañanero Surf!  It is truly a fun wave, advancing forward and across the water as it crashes towards the beach.  This wave was created by Leogarto Burt, the owner/CEO and mastermind behind HP (High Performance) Designs.  It is a sculpty wave with spray and froth that is powered by a script that is different from the others now out on the market.  The fact that the wave travels across offers a different experience for the SL surfer.  The tube can totally encase the rider for the full tunnel effect.  While the particle spray adds a degree of realism for the surfer, it also adds to the visual attraction.  This visual provides a calm for some of those that visit our beach.  The wave also behaves well on a homestead sim, allowing the stats to remain optimum for surfing and just hanging on the sim at the same time.  Why not stop by and check out this awesome wave… be sure to say hi if you do!

So for now, I’ll close… next time I’ll share the new layout of Sol Escondido and let you know just what we might be up to next!

’til then…

Hello All!

Jac and I were talking the other day about the blog I started for Sol Mañanero Surf on blogger… and we thought, why limit it to just our sim and estate?  We both agreed that it might be rather fun to blog about what our experiences in Second Life.   So, here we are…and with our tag line being – Our Second Life – the sun, the moon, the water, and the stars – we are covering it all.  We will consider the stars to include the beaches, the waves, the people, the estates, the sims, the music, the fashion and all of the creations found.  I had only just started the other blog, so I’m not sure if I will transfer it or not, but I wanted to try wordpress as a host as well.  So here I am 😉

In Second Life, Jac and I exist upon our sim, Sol Mañanero.  We have our home on our main sim with the public beach as well.  Our home is a limited release by Patch Thibaud.  There were only 3 released with similar elements, but each of the 3 has something unique.  I bid in a Relay for Life auction run by Frolic Mills in 2008 and was able to snag this home while making a rather healthy donation to the charity!  Jac did an amazing job of terraforming the sim and placing the home allowing it to sit at a nice elevation with water filled canyons, waterfalls and lush landscaping all around.  This is the 3rd location that I have rezzed this home and honestly, it has never looked better in my opinion with beautiful vistas from all points.  We have had fun filling it with furniture, adding artistic pieces, and making it a fun place to show!

Our surf sim sits out to the west where we invite all to come play on the waves.  At times you will find SSI Pipes or Epics… and at other times, there is the HP Teahupoo wave gracing the sim.  If at home, we are always willing to put out boards to let those new to SL surfing to hit the water and rip through the waves.  Ok…yeah… you might not “rip’ on the first attempt, but if you enjoy it… you will soon enough!  You will find yourself buying a board, and visiting the various surf beaches in Second Life to practice, practice, practice!  We will give you some pointers, some info to take with you and landmarks as well.  Never hesitate to ask us… we love to see new people on the waves.  We also have a few shops on our sim with merchants such as Namiko, LeLutka, Jak’s Surf, Frankie Miles Creations and our own Sol Mañanero Surf Shop, all offering beach/surf wear and gear.  We would love to see you hanging on the beach, shopping in the shops, or shredding the waves, so come on over soon!

We have a new venture… The Cabañas of Sol Escondido, a rental community just adjacent to the surf sim.  Jac really has created a beautiful sim offering 8 cabañas scattered around on a main island and 3 small islands.  Each cabaña on the main island has its own waterfall and little pool to enjoy with all the natural sounds of nature to accompany.  Call us for a tour or head over for a visit today.

Well, I will close for now with my plan to blog again soon!  I hope that you will follow our adventures, reviews, rantings and ravings as we discover the ‘stars’ of Second Life as we ‘exist in the sun’.  😉

For now… may the sun, moon and stars light your way 🙂
